2022 – 2023 SoTL Scholar

Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Heidi Hendrickson

For the 2022 – 23 academic year, CITLS is pleased to announce the SoTL Scholars Program. This program is designed to support a faculty member in their efforts to conduct research on their teaching. The SoTL Scholar for the upcoming year will be Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Heidi Hendrickson. Professor Hendrickson will continue her work on Compute-to-Learn pedagogy (C2L). C2L involves students developing interactive and dynamic computer-based demonstrations of relevant concepts to enhance their understanding of physical chemistry. 

Next year Professor Hendrickson will explore how using demos affects student learning and engagement, particularly at a small, liberal arts college. At Lafayette, Professor Hendrickson previously led a faculty workshop on C2L. She also recently wrote a book chapter on this teaching method, and is actively engaged in the SoTL Community of Practice as well as a variety of disciplinary organizations focused on chemistry education.
