Colleagues teaching across various disciplines from STEM to the Social Sciences to the Languages have all signed up to observe each other’s classes for this semester’s Teaching Squares Program . All colleagues in the program share the goal of reflection on teaching. In March, the program will conclude with a luncheon where participants share what they learned by viewing other classes at Lafayette.
Past participants of the program have found great benefit from the program, including the unexpected effect it had on the student-faculty relationship. One participant recounted, “Anecdotally, I’ve heard from a few students that they appreciated that I was participating in a program to reflect on my teaching. I hadn’t thought about this unexpected benefit as well – that by making it visible that we are reflecting on teaching, we are modeling positive qualities for our students.”
