Course Design Institute
Will you revise or design an assignment, a lecture or discussion, or an entire course this summer? Apply to attend our inaugural Course Design Institute. This virtual, interactive, intensive institute will provide access to multiple on-campus resources including CITLS, Skillman Library, Learning and Research Technologies, Landis Center, Dyer Center, and Study Abroad. The institute will include sessions on good course design practices, individual work time and opportunities for group feedback with colleagues, in addition to time to reflect on your remote teaching experiences.
Sessions will include: Designing Significant Learning Experiences, Backward Design, Active Learning, Inclusive Course Design, Creating Accessible Course Materials, and Assessment for Learning. Roundtable topics will include:
- Creating an Affordable Course
- Designing a Study Abroad Course
- Integrating Community-based Learning or Research in Your Course
- Teaching Through Entrepreneurship
- Digital Tools for Teaching & Learning
- Designing Writing Assignments
- Digital Scholarship in the Classroom
All participants completing the Institute will receive a resource on course design and a certificate of participation. Please note that all participants must be able to commit to all 3 half days in order to be accepted into the Institute.
